Gwest Corporation led gains on Tuesday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
It is the first day in a week which advances surpassed declines.
Gwest gained 16 per cent to close at $1.85 followed by the JSE stock which gained 12 per cent to close at $9.51 and Stanley Motta which gained 10 per cent to close at $5.00.
Top declining stocks included FosRich, which lost 16 per cent to close at $3.11, Radio Jamaica which declined 11 per cent to close $0.85.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 6,645.64 points (1.83 per cent) to close at 369,769.38.
The JSE Index advanced by 7,451.27 points (2.09 per cent) to close at 363,184.12. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 8,178.20 points (2.09 per cent) to close at 398,615.81.
The JSE Select Index advanced by 283.38 points (2.90 per cent) to close at 10,040.97. The Junior Market Index declined by 18.01 points (0.54 per cent) to close at 3,289.45. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 1.36 points (0.84 per cent) to close at 163.29.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in62stocks of which32advanced,24declined and6traded firm.
Market volume amounted to11,024,386units valued at over$98.1 million.JMMB Group Ltd 7.50per centwas the volume leader with7,780,000units(70.6 per cent)followed by NCB Financial Group with517,883units(4.70per cent)andCarreras Ltdwith372,736units(3.4 per cent).
